Our practical guide will help you to identify fraud attempts and protect yourself.
We are currently seeing an increase in phishing attempts via email, telephone and SMS. Fraudsters try to gain access to payment card data, online banking and payment services in order to carry out illegal transactions with the stolen data.
You should look out for the following things:
Supposed package delivery: You receive a text message or an email telling you that a package has been delayed or is undeliverable and that you need to pay a fee to receive delivery. The link provided will supposedly help you take care of the matter immediately. Be careful with messages like this and always make sure that the provider’s URL is the official one.
Never click on redirect links: Do not click on links in emails that redirect to login pages and ask you to enter your username and password. It is safer to type the URL of the login page directly into the browser.
Always check the information in the 3‑D Secure text message: Every time you make a payment with your Cornèrcard and 3‑D Secure, you will receive a text message with a code to confirm your transaction. Always check that both the name of the merchant and the amount of the order match.
