From Dior’s architectural poetry to Le Corbusier’s visionary finale – Switzerland shows it excels in design, too.

Buildings such as the Dior store in Geneva and the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern are worth visiting, and not just because of the museums and boutiques they house. Their design is a testament to architectural finesse and is not only beautiful to look at, but also skilfully coordinated with the treasures inside.

Architecture meets haute couture

The sculptural Dior store on Rue du Rhône in Geneva, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Christian de Portzamparc, impresses with a striking façade consisting of six overlapping petals. These elegant architectural elements pay homage to the fabrics used in Dior creations. The expressive façade reflects similar design elements to the flagship store in Seoul, which was also designed by De Portzamparc. The store uniquely combines luxurious aesthetics with innovative architecture.

Where modern architecture meets history

The cube at the Bernisches Historisches Museum is a fascinating architectural element that emphasises the historical and cultural significance of the museum. This modern structure contrasts impressively with the museum’s old building and represents a contemporary approach to the past.
