Paris celebrates haute couture with exhibitions by Dior and Alaïa

From the end of November 2025, the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa and the Galerie Dior will present a sensational double exhibition that brings the legacy of the two fashion icons into a unique dialogue.

Two masters of couture: From 20 November 2025, the Galerie Dior and the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa in Paris will present an extraordinary double exhibition. The focus will be on Alaïa’s secret collection of around 600 Dior pieces, over 100 of which will be on public display for the first time – a tribute to Dior and his successors from Yves Saint Laurent to Galliano. At the same time, the Fondation Alaïa will be presenting 30 models by Dior and 30 by Alaïa side by side – a dialogue between two icons, curated by Olivier Saillard in collaboration with Gaël Mamine. Two locations, two visions – a tribute to the art of detail, draping and the heritage of haute couture craftsmanship.

Fondation Azzedine Alaïa and Galerie Dior: a meeting of masters

Azzedine Alaïa discovered Christian Dior’s creations in his youth in Tunisia. In 1956, he completed a short internship at the fashion house in Paris and experienced the creation of a collection up close – a formative experience. The double exhibition now shows how Alaïa’s own designs enter into dialogue with the Dior pieces he has collected.

Two books will also be published to accompany the two exhibitions: on 19 November 2025, Rizzoli will publish the exhibition catalogue ​‘Azzedine Alaïa’s Dior Collection’ with essays by Laurence Benaïm, Alessandra Ronetti and Olivier Saillard. In December 2025, Damiani will publish the volume ​‘Azzedine Alaïa and Christian Dior, Two Masters of Couture’ to accompany the exhibition at the Fondation Alaïa.
