In November 2025, Paradise Plains, a new design-oriented safari camp, is set to open in the heart of Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The camp is part of the Wilder Group and is located in the Musiara area – a region known for its dense wildlife. Large herds of elephants regularly roam the plains in front of the camp, lions from the famous Marsh Pride prowl the area, while antelopes, zebras and giraffes complete the backdrop.
The new Paradise Plains combines safari tradition with modern design, regional responsibility and direct access to the wilderness. The camp consists of nine spacious suites, including a family suite. Each suite is positioned to offer complete privacy and unobstructed views of the savannah. Separate tents for sleeping, bathing, and living, equipped with a freestanding copper bathtub, a library, and hand-picked materials, create an atmosphere that balances comfort and authenticity. The interior design combines East African craftsmanship with modern understatement. Local fabrics, neutral tones, and natural materials allow the camp to blend organically with its surroundings. Every detail – from the orientation of the tents to the lighting – is designed to bring the rhythm of nature to life.
Relaxation is provided by means of an infinity pool overlooking the open plains, a small spa area with two treatment rooms, and a yoga platform above the Mara River. Guests can choose between classic game drives (also available at night), walking safaris, or hot air balloon flights, complemented by cultural encounters with the local Maasai community.
The camp’s cuisine is overseen by executive chef Riaan Coetzee. His culinary creations interpret international dishes with regional accents, served in the dining tent or beneath the open sky. A carefully curated selection of wines and spirits complements the experience.
Special attention is paid to sustainability: the camp is entirely solar powered, uses its own water treatment system, and operates largely plastic-free. Paradise Plains was created in a community partnership between ten Maasai families, Narok Count,y and the Wilder Group – a model that combines economic participation and nature conservation.
Located between the vast savannah and the banks of the Mara River, Paradise Plains represents a new generation of safari camps: small, thoughtful, aesthetic, and conscious. A retreat that combines the luxury of silence with the heartbeat of the wilderness.
