New W Hotel Opens in Sardinia

Sardinia has a new lifestyle hotel: the recently opened W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu is the latest addition to the brand’s portfolio, set in one of the island’s most exclusive coastal locations. Nestled within a natural fjord on the island’s north-eastern coast, between Porto Cervo and Baia Sardinia, the resort combines Mediterranean scenery, Sardinian craftsmanship and the cosmopolitan lifestyle for which W Hotels is known.

The resort features 157 rooms and suites, many of them overlooking the Marina dell’Orso or the region’s distinctive granite formations. The interior design was created by the renowned Meyer Davis studio, who also designed the W Rome. Together with DE.TALES, they developed a property that consciously embraces Sardinia’s colours and materials: tones of sand, stone and sun-bleached wood, organic shapes and works by local artists create an atmosphere that feels elegant while remaining deeply connected to its surroundings. Ceramic pieces, tapestries and photographs by Sardinian artists further enhance the spaces with a gallery-like dimension.

The public areas are equally design-focused. At the heart of the resort are the W Lounge, inspired by Sardinian myths and coastal landscapes, the WET Deck with its pool terrace, and the waterfront seafood restaurant TANIT, named after the ancient goddess of fertility. Executive Chef Antonio Bitetto reinterprets Sardinian cuisine with a contemporary touch, while award-winning pastry chef Fabrizio Fiorani showcases his sweet creations in the specially designed Dolce Room.

Unlike traditional beach resorts, however, W Sardinia aims to be more than just a seaside retreat. Workshops with local artisans, pasta-making classes, sunrise yoga sessions, DJ sets and curated boat excursions along the coast are designed to immerse guests in the island’s culture – always accompanied by the subtly vibrant energy that defines the brand. At the same time, the resort remains surprisingly relaxed: less spectacle, more Mediterranean ease. Perhaps exactly the kind of Sardinia many travellers are looking for today.
