With the opening of Rah Gili Maldives in February 2026, the Maldives welcome a new resort that deliberately follows its own path.

As the first property of the young brand SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS, Rah Gili marks the beginning of an ambitious project that will bring six private island resorts to life across the archipelago in the coming years. The brand was developed by internationally experienced hotelier and investor Laith Pharaon.

Between the South Malé Atoll and a Dolphin Sanctuary

Rah Gili Maldives sits in the South Malé Atoll, just a short speedboat ride from Velana International Airport, and borders a protected dolphin sanctuary. This setting shapes the resort’s character in every way: nature observation, tranquillity and an immediate closeness to the sea define the experience. Across the island, 74 villas are spread out, including 37 overwater villas that open either toward the lagoon or the open ocean. The architecture combines clean lines with warm materials, complemented by generous spaces designed for both privacy and connection.

Rayyithun: Island Culture and Daily Life at the Centre

At the heart of the concept lies Rayyithun — people of the islands.” This principle runs through every aspect of the resort. Local craftsmanship, traditional music, cuisine and storytelling form an integral part of daily life. A special role belongs to the so-called Edhurun, a contemporary interpretation of the classic butler. They guide guests through their stay, attend to individual wishes and offer insights into the history and life of the Maldives — attentive, personal and discreet.

Flexible Experiences Instead of Fixed Programmes

Rah Gili Maldives speaks to travellers who want to shape their stay with flexibility. Rather than following rigid schedules, the resort places personal preferences at the centre. Wellness offerings, cultural encounters and creative impulses support each guest’s own rhythm. The result is an island experience that unfolds quietly and leaves space for individual impressions.

With Rah Gili Maldives, SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS has taken its first step. Later this year, the brand will introduce its second resort, Don Maaga Maldives, conceived as an especially expansive, ultra-luxurious property. Rah Gili, however, already sets the tone: an island that places nature, culture and personal freedom at its core.

The opening of Rah Gili Maldives also highlights the ongoing evolution of Maldivian hospitality. More and more resorts focus on individuality, closeness to local culture and consciously curated island experiences — developments that Rah Gili embodies from the very beginning.
