Electrifying power: Mercedes presents the new Concept AMG GT XX and is redefining performance.
How much innovation can you fit into a pizza box? At Mercedes-AMG, the answer is over 1,360 hp. With its CONCEPT AMG GT XX, Mercedes is not only putting an electric concept car on the road, it is offering a real promise for the future – a bright orange vehicle that is high-tech down to the last copper detail.
“With the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, we have succeeded in translating this vision into the future. Sports cars have always been the icons of our brand; they are highly emotional and represent unique moments in our history. That’s what makes designing them so special. Icons such as the 300 SL and the legendary Silver Arrows are the emotional heart of our brand – as are the GT and the AMG ONE. Crafting these masterpieces is about creating something extraordinary, from the C111 to the Vision One Eleven and into the future of production. The brand-new CONCEPT AMG GT XX embodies the ‘hot’ part of our design philosophy of sensual purity.” – Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Mercedes-Benz Group AG
State-of-the-art rocket technology
Three ultra-compact axial flux motors – each barely larger than a pizza box – deliver a combined output of over 1,000 kW. They are housed in high-performance units at the front and rear, each module with its own silicon carbide inverter – a material more commonly found in rocket engines or space telescopes.
A work of light art
Whether it’s the electroluminescent body paint that glows at night and indicates the charge level, or the Fluid Light Panel with 700 programmable LEDs, the GT XX is a work of light art. Even the door handles are made from a biotechnological silk alternative – lightweight, strong and biodegradable.
From Basel to the Matterhorn with five minutes of charge
Thanks to a newly developed Alpitronic charging station, the GT XX can recharge for a full 400 km of range in just five minutes – enough for a short trip from Basel to the Matterhorn.
Formula 1 feeling
With individually 3D-printed carbon bucket seats, LABFIBER biotech leather made from recycled GT3 tyres and smart speakers in the headlights, the GT XX is bringing Formula 1 to the cockpit.
