From painting to sculpture to digital art, the fair offers an unforgettable line-up of artists, from modern pioneers of the early 20th century to groundbreaking contemporary talents. As the leading event in the global art market, Art Basel brings together 289 leading galleries from 42 countries and territories, and it is the ultimate place for discovery and networking.

The 2025 edition will feature not only exceptional works in the Galleries, Premiere, Feature and Statements sectors but also a dynamic programme in the public space that makes this fair truly unique. Maike Cruse, Director of Art Basel

Katharina Grosse: the world as a canvas

An absolute highlight of this year’s fair is the renowned German artist Katharina Grosse, who is taking over the fairground and transforming its surrounding structures into a vibrant, colourful environment with her characteristic paint-spraying technique. Natalia Grabowska curates this impressive work. The work scrutinises space, architecture and our perception of reality. Grosse herself says: I want to paint the world. Colour becomes anarchic. It can appear anywhere and transcend borders”.

Stefanie Hessler: Second Nature’

The acclaimed Parcours sector returns in 2025 for the second year running by Stefanie Hessler. This year’s edition is themed Second Nature’. It brings together artists and works that explore the increasingly blurred boundaries between nature and artificiality. The carefully curated exhibition in public space stretches along Clarastrasse to the Rhine. It includes the former Hotel Merian as well as a satellite work on Münsterplatz.

The award for creative visionaries

The Art Basel Award, the first award programme of its kind in the industry, was launched for the first time. The award honours pioneering artists, curators, museums, interdisciplinary creatives and cultural innovators shaping contemporary art’s future. In May, an international jury will award 36 medals to individuals and organisations worldwide, selected for their visionary perspective, skill and transformative potential.
