Top brands, media outlets and galleries are all fighting over her. Cake artist Sophia Stolz is showing the world how cakes can become works of art.
Sweet is not necessarily the first word that comes to mind when trying to describe Sophia Stolz. Her creations may have a sweet taste, but her art is profound, stylish and full of surprises. The Viennese artist struck out on her own early on. She discovered her passion for baking at the age of 15. From the very beginning, it was more than just a pastime, a kind of therapy for her depression at the time, an expression of her personality, an appreciation of food. Why shouldn’t birthday cakes be staged works of art?
From the oven to the museum
She did not waste any time in answering this question herself. She founded her own company while studying history of art and is now fascinating top brands such as Bulgari, Chanel and Disney with her works of art. Her sugary masterpieces are featured in numerous movies, her sweet sculptures are exhibited in museums and galleries and she also presents her art in book form.
