Following its major anniversary year, the Streetfood Festival Original Tour 2026 enters its eleventh season – and reaches a new dimension. With 20 cities, the tour includes more stops than ever before. A new addition is Zug, where food trucks will appear for the first time along the lakeside promenade, marking the start of a culinary journey of discovery.
Since its premiere in 2015 in Olten, the format has become a firmly established part of Switzerland’s event landscape. More than 140 festivals have already taken place, attracting over 3.15 million visitors. The success is based on a simple idea: low-threshold access, international cuisine and an atmosphere that brings together enjoyment and social exchange.
Diversity that connects
In 2026, the concept remains unchanged: free admission, maximum variety. Around 45 food stands per location offer specialties from around the world – from Asian street food classics to Latin American cuisine and European interpretations. Small tasting portions allow visitors to explore a wide range of flavours without committing to just one dish.
The culinary offering is complemented by themed bars, live music, street art and a dedicated children’s area. This combination of market, festival and meeting place creates an atmosphere designed to appeal across generations.
Sustainability as part of the concept
Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important element of the tour. At eleven locations, organic waste and used frying oil are converted into biogas in cooperation with partners from the Swiss energy sector. The consistent separation of organic waste reduces emissions and strengthens regional energy cycles.
Sustainable travel is also part of the concept: in cooperation with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), visitors benefit from discounted public transport tickets through the RailAway offer.

A contemporary folk festival
The Streetfood Festival Tour shows how food culture has evolved: away from the traditional restaurant visit towards open, urban formats. Between strings of lights, food trucks and long wooden tables, a space emerges where cuisine, culture and community intertwine – uncomplicated, international and contemporary.
