Foodies take note! Culinary art knows no borders. That’s why we are heading north to Copenhagen.

The mecca of New Nordic Cuisine promises unforgettable culinary experiences for lovers of fine flavours. Not surprising, as exquisite innovations are always found here first. And culinary delights are not limited to the evenings here in the North.

Danish pastry art

Whether early in the morning or with an afternoon coffee, Copenhagen’s pastries are very popular. The puff pastry dough, which the Danes adopted from Austria in the 19th century, has 27 layers! The baking boom shows no signs of slowing, as proven by the queues of people in front of bakeries such as Benji, Alice, Juno the Bakery and Hart Bageri. You need plenty of energy in Copenhagen, because the best way to get around is on foot or by bike. How else would you visit Strøget, Rosenborg Castle or the Little Mermaid? And after strolling through countless other shopping streets, it is worth visiting the alternative community of Christiania via the car-free bridge Inderhavnsbroen.

Michelin-starred cuisine at Geranium and Alchemist

In the evening, you can enjoy food of the highest quality. The selection is huge. Seats at the restaurant Noma, which will close at the end of 2024, are in high demand. It’s a good thing that it already has a successor in Geranium. In 2016, it was Denmark’s first restaurant to receive three Michelin stars and it now tops the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Those who enjoy unique gastronomic experiences should try Alchemist. In a former theatre warehouse, a menu of 50 (!) courses is served in five different locations and acts.
