On 14 March 2025, the Kimpton Main Frankfurt opened its doors, setting a new benchmark for the hotel industry in the financial metropolis.

With its avant-garde design and modern architecture, the new luxury lifestyle hotel is not only a highlight of Frankfurt’s hotel scene, but also a cultural beacon for the city, which has been named World Design Capital 2026’.

A design that unites past and future

The hotel is located in the FOUR Frankfurt district and impressively combines past and future. The design by London-based architectural firm Waldo Works, led by Tom Bartlett, combines elements of the Bauhaus style with contemporary touches, while paying tribute to the historic legacy of the former Deutsche Bank site. Here, the city’s history is retold in a modern context.

Our aim was to create a design that both honours history and sends a positive, forward-looking message,’ explains Bartlett. The clear, geometric design language of the Bauhaus is complemented by warm colours and materials such as marble, velvet, and dark mahogany wood, creating a welcoming and elegant atmosphere.

Elegance and cosmopolitan charm at the Anni brasserie restaurant

Another highlight of the hotel is the brasserie restaurant, Anni. Inspired by European grand cafés and bistros as well as classic Italian restaurants in New York, the restaurant exudes a cosmopolitan elegance. The choice of black and white tiles, unique pendant lights, and portraits of famous personalities create a distinctive charm. The interior design successfully combines traditional elegance with modern elements.

The rooms: playful use of shapes and colour

In contrast to the formal elegance of the lobby and restaurant, the hotel rooms reveal a more playful side. Each room is unique and features distinct geometric shapes and a colour palette of blues, rusts, and emerald greens. Unexpected design elements lend character and freshness to the rooms, while the combination of classic and modern accents creates a pleasant atmosphere.

Lazuli: maritime atmosphere with a view of the skyline

The bar and restaurant Lazuli, with its maritime design and a bright blue bar in the lapis lazuli tone, is another outstanding feature of the hotel. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer spectacular views of the Frankfurt skyline, creating an atmosphere that is both glamorous and playful. Here, understated colours and playful design elements combine with the powerful elegance of the city.

Art and culture at the heart of the hotel

Particularly noteworthy is the hotel’s art collection, which was compiled under the direction of art curator Laura Bartlett. It includes works created especially for the Kimpton Main Frankfurt that reflect the history of the building and the cultural identity of Frankfurt. The rooms are adorned with unique artworks, such as geometric collages and 3D sculptures, that combine humour and history. These artworks are more than just decorative elements, they also tell the story of the city and the creative soul of Frankfurt.

Conclusion: a design hotspot with global aesthetics and regional identity

With its successful blend of global aesthetics and regional identity, the Kimpton Main Frankfurt makes a striking contribution to the city’s design scene. The hotel is not just a place to relax, but also a space that immerses guests in the creative soul of the city through its art and history.
