Some restaurants shine not only because of their Michelin-starred cuisine, but also because of their in-house art collections.
What happens when you combine taste and aesthetics? The answer: unique art restaurants that not only bring art to the plate, but also refine the evening out with in-house art collections or touring exhibitions.
Zagreus Projekt
The Zagreus Projekt in Berlin is a unique event venue that combines art, culture and cuisine in an innovative way. The project was launched by the renowned restaurateur and artist Stephan Landwehr and offers guests a multifaceted, inspiring experience. Over a period of two months, artists are invited to create artistic installations and interventions for the space. Landwehr serves a four-course menu specially created to complement the art or installation.
Duomo
Ciccio Sultano and his restaurant Duomo in Ragusa are known for their creative and innovative approach to Sicilian cuisine, with Sultano combining traditional ingredients and recipes with modern techniques and presentation. The Michelin-starred chef regards cooking as a form of art and sees his dishes as a means of artistic expression. He places great emphasis on the aesthetics and presentation of his dishes, often playing with colours, textures and shapes.
Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville
Some restaurants in Switzerland are known for their artful dishes. But some restaurants go one step further and enrich the culinary experience with visible art. The Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Fribourg, for example, combines exquisite cuisine with contemporary art. Under the direction of Anne and Frédérik Kondratowicz, it not only offers culinary highlights made from fresh, seasonal ingredients, but also temporary exhibitions by local artists, such as the latest works of the Fribourg artist Jean-Pierre Humbert. In addition to culinary delights and an impressive art collection, the art restaurant is also known for its events. Whether it’s themed evenings, concerts or art exhibitions, the programme is as diverse as the tastes of the guests.
