In 2026, Madrid transforms into a stage for collectible design with FORMA — offering a compelling new reason to put Spain back on the design travel map.

With the launch of the FORMA Design Fair, Madrid now hosts a curated platform dedicated to collectible design. On view are unique pieces and limited editions that explore the boundary between function and object art — embedded within the wider framework of the Madrid Design Festival.

FORMA 2026 deliberately positioned itself outside the conventions of a traditional design fair. In early March, Antonio Jesús Luna and Emerio Arena transformed Nave Una and the Central de Diseño DIMAD at Matadero Madrid into a carefully curated stage for collectible design situated between craftsmanship, sculpture and the collectors’ market. The common thread across all featured works: material as narrative. This becomes particularly evident in the work of Regina Dejimenez, who translates physical sensations into textile reliefs — folded, compacted and woven like micro-landscapes. Soft yet architecturally conceived, her pieces suggest a form of soft monumentality for interiors.

This is joined by the raw, restrained concrete language of Fernando de Ana and the breakwave” chair by Josep Vila Capdevila: concrete frozen into a wave, playing with mass and fluidity. Verónica Mar counters with metallic surfaces that reflect and fracture light — hovering between wall object, luminaire and assertive gesture. Justino Del Casar, meanwhile, elegantly inverts material logic: dense volumes made from recycled paper take on the appearance of stone or ceramic — archetypal vessels that renegotiate value and impermanence. At FORMA, his work enters into dialogue with Andrés Mariño Maza, whose approach centres on material honesty, formal reduction and quiet consistency.

The programme was complemented by Per-(FORMA): a series of talks, demonstrations, workshops and sessions conceived as a knowledge hub for exchange and collaboration.
