Directly on the Atlantic Ocean, between dramatic mountains and the sun-drenched beaches of Camps Bay, a new luxury property has opened with Morea House, Autograph Collection. Overlooking the turquoise sea and the striking Twelve Apostles mountain range, the hotel is located along one of the city’s most popular stretches of coastline – where Cape Town finds its most relaxed rhythm.
Morea House features 90 rooms and suites and is the first Autograph Collection hotel in Cape Town. The palm-lined promenade with cafés, restaurants and boutiques is just steps away, as is the expansive beach that makes Camps Bay one of the city’s most sought-after meeting points.
Where nature meets urbanity
The hotel was designed by Cape Town – based interior designer Tristan du Plessis. His concept embraces the contrasts of the surroundings: natural materials such as wood, stone and bronze meet clean lines and contemporary forms. The rooms are consistently oriented towards the location, offering views of the sea, the mountains or the sand. Public areas alternate between generous terraces and more secluded retreats, complemented by works by South African artists.
International and regional cuisine
In terms of cuisine, Morea House focuses on diversity. At the restaurant OMRI, modern Lebanese cuisine takes centre stage, interpreted with South African influences and local ingredients. The offering is complemented by a poolside restaurant with seasonal fare and sea views, which in the evening evolves into a gathering place for sunset drinks. The Courtyard and the Wine Room provide quieter alternatives for private moments or tastings.
Wellness and adventure
Wellness is firmly anchored in the concept. In addition to the pool and spa, offerings include sunrise yoga, coastal walks or guided hikes in the surrounding mountains. The spa follows a holistic approach and integrates regional elements such as fynbos into selected treatments.
With Morea House, Marriott Bonvoy expands the Autograph Collection with a property that brings together the setting of Camps Bay, contemporary design and the lifestyle of Cape Town in a distinctive hotel concept – serving equally as a retreat and as a starting point for discoveries between city, sea and mountains.
