On holiday, the sky always looks different. Far from the cities, away from artificial light and the routines of everyday life, the stars suddenly appear brighter. We spend more time outdoors, look up at the sky more often and discover constellations that usually go unnoticed in daily life.
This is precisely the image Bell & Ross takes up with the new BR-05 Blue Diamond Eagle 36 mm. At its heart is a deep-blue aventurine dial, whose shimmering inclusions recall a clear night sky. Seven diamonds trace the constellation Aquila, the Eagle, which is particularly visible in the northern hemisphere during the summer months. Its brightest star, Altair, forms the so-called Summer Triangle together with Vega and Deneb — one of the most striking star formations of this season.
The choice of constellation is closely linked to the history of Bell & Ross. Since its founding, the company has taken its cues from the world of aviation, developing timepieces whose design is shaped by cockpit instruments and the fascination of flight. Since antiquity, the eagle has stood for vision, freedom and the connection between heaven and earth — qualities that Bell & Ross takes up in this edition.
The craftsmanship of the dial deserves particular attention. Aventurine is one of the most demanding materials in watchmaking. The glass is cut, drilled and worked with the utmost precision before the gem setters can begin their work. Each of the seven diamonds receives an individually crafted setting and is placed into the delicate material with micrometre precision. Even the slightest tension could damage the aventurine, which means that every step requires great experience and the highest level of precision.
The seven diamonds of the constellation are complemented by twelve additional diamonds as hour markers. Added to this are 108 hand-set diamonds on the bezel, framing the 36-millimetre case. Despite its jewel-like radiance, the BR-05 remains true to its characteristic design language. The square case, integrated steel bracelet and clean lines take up the aesthetic developed by Bell & Ross, which has its origins in the instruments of modern aircraft cockpits.
With the BR-05 Blue Diamond Eagle, Bell & Ross combines astronomical inspiration with traditional gem-setting artistry and precise Swiss watchmaking. The aventurine dial, the faithful depiction of the Aquila constellation and the elaborate craftsmanship make this edition one of the most exceptional interpretations of the summer night sky on the wrist.
