From 12 to 22 June, Europe’s third-largest food festival will be celebrating a decade of culinary togetherness and showing national and international food aficionados what Zurich has to offer in terms of gastronomy.

Did you miss the longest picnic table in Switzerland and the launch of FOOD ZURICH 2025? Not to worry, the upcoming 11-day mega-event offers more than 120 events at 60 locations in Zurich and the surrounding area, giving you plenty of opportunity to explore this trendy destination as you let yourself be guided by your stomach! You’ll also find out why Zurich is rightly considered Switzerland’s food capital. This makes sense seeing as this is where new food trends arrive first. Nowhere else is the culinary offering greater (#sorrynotsorry Basel), the restaurateurs more dynamic, and the guests more open-minded than on the Limmat. Where else could you take part in a cocoa ceremony including gentle yoga flow during a food festival and embark on a journey of self-discovery in the process? And where else can you learn how food styling works for social media? Enough said.

Enjoy Zurich

Nevertheless, FOOD ZURICH is not exclusively about trends that set influencers’ hearts racing. Rather, the organisers want to celebrate culinary togetherness on the occasion of the event’s anniversary and show how delicious, creative and sustainable gastronomy can be. For example, by picking wild plants in the Zurich suburbs or by attending a natural wine tasting session in the no longer quite so wild Kreis 4. Those who would prefer a more central location during the festival will find what they are looking for on Europaallee. This year, the business district not far from Langstrasse will once again be transformed into the epicentre of FOOD ZURICH, inviting visitors to sample regional products at numerous food huts and at the Slow Food Market. Speaking of which, regional does not necessarily mean typically Swiss. The trendy gastro start-up Baba Baos & Pilzchef may have been inspired by Chinese street food when creating its super-tasty bao buns, however, they switch things up by preparing them exclusively with meat from Switzerland or plant-based ingredients from the region.

Once again, Switzerland’s largest culinary festival proves that it knows how to combine international trends with local specialities and how to promote young talent within the gastronomic sector. Another focus of FOOD ZURICH is sustainable eating. To this end, the organisers have teamed up with Umwelt- und Gesundheitsschutz Zürich (Zurich Environmental and Health Protection) to develop the Klima à la carte campaign, which raises awareness of food waste and its impact on the environment and climate. Workshops such as Essbares Zürich’ (Edible Zurich) and the Einmach-Schnippeldisko’ (Preserving Disco) are sure to whet your appetite for this topic. And – alongside the various tavolatas at the food festival – they could even serve as a sustainable alternative to dating apps such as Bumble or Raya. Just like IRL, with food.

Either way, whether you’re sampling your way through Switzerland’s culinary landscape at FOOD ZURICH through talks, cooking classes, tasting sessions or interactive formats, boredom is not on the menu.
